No good quality Smart TV will lose support for services after a few short years!īit late, when thousands of good quality sets have already done so - they didn't 'lose support' though, the services they used were closed by the broadcasters. appear to use the full 'proper' access, as a PC does, so aren't usually affected. No, it only affects any products that use those discontinued services, so TV's, set-top boxes, BD Players etc. So that happens - every few shorts years - and affects all types of streaming devices!?! Pretty well all the broadcasters are guilty of it, but the two most common are the BBC and YouTube. They had a list of TV's that were 'not compatible' and ours was one of them. The TV played Netflix, Amazon and other services just fine.Ĭontacting the BBC about it was like talking to a brick wall. Half-hour TV shows would sometimes get through OK, but anything longer would be pot luck, and series often refused to play at all. Our previous Sony smart TV would only play BBC shows for 20 mins before flipping up an 'oops, something went wrong' notice.
